Instant Online Permits


  Now you can schedule your inspections on the web! 

Instructions:    After logging on , on page 'Step 1 of 12', a column called 'Inspections' has been added to the Most Recent Plumbing Permit Purchases grid.  Click on  'Select to Schedule' and you will be taken to the Scheduling page. Click on the 'Schedule' button to begin scheduling.   Email at dbionlineservices@sfgov.org, or call 628-652-3320 for assistance. To view all Permit activity use Permit Inquiry which is also found in the Permit Services tab under 'Track permits and complaints' on the DBI menu.

Need to Register?
To have access to these online services you will need to complete the Contractor's Agreement & Terms of Service form--see following link. On receipt of this form, SFGov Online Services will issue you a Username and Password so that you can begin printing permits.

Please note, due to verification requirements, the online permitting system cannot be used with the First Year Free program. Plumbing and electrical permits for First Year Free program applicants must be obtained in-person at 49 South Van Ness.

With this site licensed and registered contractors may:
  • Check out an example of the Plumbing Permit procedure.
  • Obtain certified permits immediately. However, they can not be part for any fee waiver program (e.g., First Year Free).
  • Use the only system that integrates directly with the Department of Building Inspection.
  • Print official permits to post at the worksite.
  • Save time and avoid the hassle of standing in line.
  • Pay a minimal convenience fee per permit.

    FEES: In addition to all fees posted in the current DBI Fee Schedules, please be aware that other/additional fees may apply, and that all fees are subject to change. Legislative action, at the state and/or local levels, may demand that newly-mandated fees remain the customer’s responsibility from the time of the fee’s effective date. Such fees may be billed to the customer at a later date to ensure legally required collection and payment.
