 ITEMDESCRIPTION
1REPAIR STAIRS (1001(b)(13)HC)The concrete landing at the front exterior entry to units 1000 & 1000 1/2 is cracked and deteriorating, creating a trip/fall hazard. Repair or replace the deteriorating concrete.
2REPAIR WEATHER PROOFING ON SIDING (1001(h),703 HC)There are exterior shingles on the uphill side that are detaching from the building. Re-secure the loose shingles.
Note: The exterior shingles cited in this notice should be assumed to contain asbestos unless proven otherwise. Repairs must be made in an approved manner. Intact, non-friable shingles that can be re-secured without breaking must be handled carefully to prevent fiber release. Shingles must be kept intact whenever possible and wetted with water prior to and during handling. Cutting, sanding, drilling, or breaking shingles is prohibited unless no other method will work. Nails should be cut with flat, sharp tools to minimize fiber release. Detached shingles must be bagged, wrapped, or lowered safely in a dust-tight manner. If the shingle cracks or is damaged during removal it must be treated as friable waste and disposed of properly which includes wetting the damaged tile before double-bagging or wrapping in 6-mil plastic labeled "CAUTION - Contains Asbestos - Do Not Inhale Dust". Friable asbestos waste such as cracked or broken shingles must be disposed of properly and may require disposal at a landfill permitted to accept asbestos-containing hazardous waste. Contact the Bay Area Air Quality Management District for information on handling and disposal requirements.
